Meditation

The enemy has twisted meditation to be an exercise of thinking on nothing, and of allowing whatever comes into your mind to enter and stay. That is dangerous for us, as it allows the enemy to bring thoughts to our minds that we might think are from the Lord—thoughts the enemy has twisted just enough for us to be unaware they have a lie built into them, just as he did with Eve in the garden. That is not the purpose of meditation as God intended. He told us to meditate upon His word for that reason. Meditating on truth from the word will always bring light into your body. As thoughts come to you as you meditate, you must go back to the word to see if it lines up as truth. Then you can incubate those thoughts of true revelation.

Anything you allow yourself to see or hear has the potential to program what you believe. Your eyes and ears are the gates to your body and soul. Your soul, which is your mind, affects the things stored in your heart by changing what you believe. Beliefs are altered by our thinking processes. It always comes down to the basic foundation being: as a man thinks, he becomes. This is a law of the kingdom. This law works exactly the same way for God as it does for us.

It is a law to guard our heart from thoughts that oppose what the Word says. All kingdoms have laws by which they are governed. You operate the law of the kingdom from inside yourself, by your words. You create life or death by what you say because of the law. Most people don’t know the laws or how they operate, nor do they know their rights. The enemy gets us to operate in a way that brings judgment upon us. Too many of us remain ignorant of our rights, allowing the enemy to turn the power we possess against us.

We curse ourselves with the words we speak because they are not truly our words, but they are the words the enemy originally spoke into our minds. We agree with those words. Next, they became planted in the soil of our heart to produce what we say. Meantime, our enemy sits in the dark and we don’t even see what he’s doing in us. Proverbs 4:19 tells us: “The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” We don’t know how we stumble in the darkness. We need the light of the word to expose the dastardly deeds of the enemy.

If you really want to guard your heart, you must be aware of what enters your eye gate and ear gate and what you focus on in your thinking. This is why Proverbs 4:24 tells us to put away false and dishonest speech and to put contrary talk far from us. Contrary talk is walk that is contrary to what God says. Proverbs tells us what the law of the Kingdom of God should produce in our lives: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20-22). Our words should produce life and health in our bodies. Proverbs 4:25 says we are to let our eyes look right.

For those of you who think you can watch something and then stop thinking about it, you are ignorant of how your non-conscious mind works. Earlier we explored how the non-conscious mind processes and stores information at the rate of 40 million bits per second. Our conscious mind can only process 40 bits of information per second. Whatever you see gets stored in your non-conscious mind, to be retrieved by your conscience mind at any time. Beliefs are formed when enough similar information is acquired.

The amygdala in our brain searches for matches from stored information like a library. Information coming through our five senses enters and the data is put into the library. This means that all the enemy has to do is speak something through another person to cause you to react to a false belief stored in your non-conscious mind. This causes you to speak and act out what you believe. We don’t always understand why we believe what we do because the matched information isn’t always accurately perceived and isn’t always accurately matched. You will meditate on what you see and what you hear, either consciously or non-consciously.

You want to speak from springs of living water that flow from your heart. If you are having thoughts of never being able to change your life, you have just heard the enemy speak. Nothing is impossible with God because of the way He created us. Nothing is too big and it is never too late. Do not miss the biggest point of all of this—the word of God is the superpower of the universe. Your enemy is rendered powerless, not by your words, but by the words of the Lord. When you speak His word, He is speaking with you. Remember, we said that we never speak alone. We speak stored beliefs from our hearts that originated as a thought from one of two kingdoms.
